Why You Do What You Do

#LeadandLift | Episodes 13 & 14 | Deb Ingino

Have you ever wondered why you do what you do?

What if you could get along with anyone, even if you’re not a “people person”?

What if you could tap into your greatest motivation and dramatically improve your relationships and accelerate your results?

People are different…predictably different!

The Maxwell DISC was co-created by Deb Ingino.  She became a founding partner with her mentor, the renowned leadership expert John C. Maxwell.

I am so honored to have Deb teach us more about ourselves.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this episode:

  • The Maxwell DISC system and finding your strengths
  • DISC is more than what you’re good at, it’s how you approach the world
  • DISC has been around for years and has a lot of scientific backing
  • Motivating a D-wired and I-wired people
  • What motivates S-wired and C-wired people
  • How realizing your strength and weakness should affect you
  • Benefits from a better understanding of self

I hope you enjoyed this powerful interview with one of my mentors and it has inspired you to learn more about you so you can be better each day.

Here’s a glance at this episode:

  • Finding your DISC strengths can give you new insight into yourself and your motivations
  • Knowing your employees and co-worker’s DISC assessment can help you communicate better with them
  • We all have each of the DISC traits, but what is strongest in us is what’s important to know
  • To motivate a D-wired person, give them a challenge or get them involved in healthy competition with others or with themselves. An I-wired person is motivated by popularity, recognition, and fun experiences.
  • S-wired people are motivated by security, stability, and a friendly, non-confrontational environment - get them unstuck by creating a routine and keeping the goal right in front of you. C-wired people live for data and facts. They are motivated when they see excellence happen - create a plan to get unstuck, seek progress not perfection.
  • Working on your weaknesses will only bring you up to average. Focus on your strengths and position yourself to fill a role that others cannot and let others step in where you’re not wired for.
  • When we're able to understand ourselves better, communicate better, and understand ourselves better - it just makes us a better person to be around.
