The Art and Soul of Story Telling

communication Apr 17, 2022

#LeadandLift | Episode 21 | Natalie Alcantara

Our stories are unique to us just like our fingerprint…we can be at the same place, going through the same event but we will tell the story a little different depending on our unique emotion and experience.

So, what’s your story?

Natalie Alcantara taught me that everything has a story – the water bottle on your desk beside you – there is a story there; the items in your office or home…each piece has a story.

Stories are everywhere…

Natalie has an unerring eye for impactful ideas that create real brand resonance. She is passionate about creating authentic connections that help businesses evolve and build brand affinity.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this episode:

  • Stories as a communication tool
  • Our neurochemical response to stories
  • Three stories that everyone can tell
  • Making your audience feel something

I hope you enjoyed these insights and you dig into your mind’s vault to extract that story that you have been holding back.  The one that has the power to change a person’s life.

Here’s a glance at this episode:

  • Stories have a universal appeal, it’s an effective tool of communication for everyone of all ages.
  • Listening to a story releases a neurochemical, Oxytocin, in our body. That’s the chemical that helps build bonds, elicits empathy and cooperation. It also motivates positive reciprocal behavior.
  • There are three types of stories that everyone can tell: stories of continuity, novelty, or transition. These are all good places to start to create a narrative.
  • Whenever you tell a story, your audience feels something. They may forget the story that you said, or what it’s even about, but they’re never going to forget how you made them feel.
